Joe Lewels was a good friend of John Mack [RIP]. It is a little known fact that Mack was an acid-head and shared these shamanarchistic influences with Lewels [albeit theoretically]. It looks to me as if Mack also had exposure to the voluminous work of one Terence McKenna. Terence [also RIP] has a grasp on the alien issue that most UFOlogists will never come close to.
Mainstream Ufology is flawed in so far as it likes to seperate itself from the knowledge we've gained from shamanic cultures and psychedelic spaces. It's my view that we will never fully comprehend just what's going on in this field *without* at least admitting that the use of entheogens has a historic and cultural role here.

This conference presentation is by the author of 'The God Hypothesis'. Lewels
covers much of the more recent work [unfinished] by John Mack on the role of
psychedelics, amazon tribes, DNA and the much ignored reptilian angle. We also
find much of this talk comes close to that of Jeremy Narby -  author and
ethnopsychoanthropologist who wrote "The Cosmic Serpent, DNA and the Origins of
Knowledge".
