An Ecological Perspective On Extraterrestrial Life
By Ed Komarek 8/25/07 - http://exopolitics.blogspot.com/
I
believe that individuals in both the natural and social sciences can
add much to the overall dynamics of life in the universe, complementing
those with security or religious backgrounds. Security people tend to
be narrowly focused on threats which can bias them toward the greater
perspective to the disadvantage of all. Those who adhere to established
religions can view reality biased by their strong religious beliefs. In
cases where individuals are involved in security and have a narrow
fundamentalist religious perspective the bias are compounded. They are
apt to mistake ET friends as enemies and ET enemies as friends. We have
to look no further than to the present war in the Middle East to see
the combined dangerous destructive effects of both security and
religious bias.

Below is a scan of the response received after posting out the letter to Gordon Brown. This letter focused on current, urgent issues within the exopolitical field - especially from a UK engagement point of view. It was sent to three offices/locations to maximise the possibility that Gordon Brown may actually read it!
The Exopolitics UK initiative has recently received an invite to the House of Commons to talk over these issues with an MP. More soon.

UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. - For the first time in almost 28 years, the
United Nations General Assembly may be debating the issue of
establishing diplomatic relations with advanced Extraterrestrial
Civilizations that may now be visiting Earth.
On December 16, 2005, a Resolution to establish a United Nations Decade
of Contact was formally transmitted to the incoming President of the
General Assembly, H.E. Jan Eliasson of Sweden by a group of
Non-Governmental Organizations, including the U.S.-based Disclosure

Unlocking Democracy - Join UK Projects on Open Government unlockdemocracy.org.uk
In Autumn 2006, Charter 88 and the New Politics Network came
together to launch a new campaign to tackle the crisis of legitimacy
facing British politics. For several years now we have worked on a
variety of projects together. The creation of Unlock Democracy means
that will be working together more closely than ever before to keep our
mutual concerns on the agenda and to minimise unnecessary duplication
of resources.
The premise of Unlock Democracy is simple: far too much power is
locked up in the hands of far too few people. In particular, we want to:

The current UK Chancellor of the Exchequer looks likely to follow Tony Blair into power. Exopolitics UK have highlighted three recent events that easily demonstrate to even the most hard-headed among us that we have to begin taking this field seriously within our formal cultural structures.
This letter to Gordon Brown MP will be dispatched by formal methods and additionally he will be presented with it in person thanks to some examination of his official parliamentary diary.
If you are UK based and can help in this type of lobbying and perhaps more 'unconventional' PR tactics please get in touch.

Why exopolitics has a small 'p'
The
common criticism against the exopolitical agenda is that it claims to
"know all the answers". This is simply untrue and somewhat absurd. There is no way a structure dealing with such a phenomena can know all the answers
- instead exopolitics is trying to maybe fill the vacuum left by 50
years of UFO studies and the many other structures that have failed to adequately confront the issue - ie: to at least attempt to provide a map of the terrain as we explore our way collectively to a shared cosmos.
